1978
THE BEGINNING
Amdro Fire Ant Bait was patented (patent now expired) with delayed toxicity, so soldier ants had time to carry the bait into the mound and feed to the queen. Once a queen dies, the fire ant mound can no longer sustain itself.

1980s
BACK ON THE FARM
Amdro Fire Ant Bait started to enter the marketplace primarily as an agricultural product. Farmers loved it for its ability to eliminate fire ants from large pastures and fields in one application.

1989
BRINGING IT HOME
Thanks to a redeveloped delivery method for the Fire Ant Bait, homeowners could now purchase Amdro products at their local hardware store or home center to use on their lawns.

2000
NEW FAMILY
The Amdro products became a part of the Central Garden & Pet family of brands, making them more accessible to a broader distribution network.

2003
THE WHOLE YARD
At the time, fire ants usually were treated after they were found one mound at a time - enter Amdro Yard Treatment. Consumers now could treat their entire yard all at once to prevent outbreaks.

DEFEND THE HOME
If Amdro products could eliminate fire ants, then they certainly could protect your home from common ants. Enter Amdro Ant Block products as a home perimeter ant bait. Within a very short time it was listed nationally and became the number one selling Amdro product.

MOVING INSIDE
The makers of Amdro products launched the brand’s first indoor product, Ant Killing Bait Stations, providing consumers a complete indoor and outdoor ant solution.

MORE THAN JUST ANTS
Amdro Quick Kill Outdoor Insect Killer and Quick Kill Lawn Insect Killer is launched giving consumers broad spectrum control of over 500 listed insects found in lawns and landscapes.

MOSQUITOES TOO
The most annoying and disease-laden insect met its match when the makers of Amdro products launched a two-step Amdro Quick Kill Mosquito line. When used together, Amdro Quick Kill mosquito delivers a 1-2 punch to kill adult mosquitoes and prevent the growth of new ones.
